What is Pointhaven actually doing under the hood?

Pointhaven is a ranking engine. You tell it which columns matter and how much, and it produces a single combined score per row using simple additive weighting — a standard, defensible math approach used in procurement and decision analysis. The result is a list, sorted by your priorities, with the math behind every rank visible. There's no model to train, no SQL to write, and the math is fully explainable for any rank.

How is this different from sorting in Excel?

Excel sorts one column at a time. Pointhaven ranks across every column at once — including text columns like tasting notes or listing descriptions, which Excel can't sort meaningfully at all. You also keep multiple named preference profiles per project, so re-sorting next quarter's catalog doesn't lose last quarter's setup.

Do you train AI on my data?

Accepted Answer

No. Your data stays in your project, encrypted at rest. Description-mining runs once on upload to extract sortable axes from your text columns, then those axes are saved as part of your project. We don't reuse customer data to improve any model — yours or anyone else's.

What size of dataset can you handle?

Accepted Answer

Free tier: 10,000 rows per project. Pro tier: 500,000 rows per project. Both run in under three seconds for the full re-rank on every slider change. If you need more, the Custom tier handles datasets in the millions.

What kinds of data work best?

Accepted Answer

Anything where the rows are comparable and the columns include at least one number (price, score, year, distance) and ideally one text column (description, notes, bio). Wine catalogs, used-equipment listings, real estate, application reviews, and pet adoption listings all work well out of the box. If your CSV opens in Excel, Pointhaven can rank it.

Yes — through a kiosk. You publish a kiosk link from any project; your customers open it on a tablet or phone, drive their own sliders, and see your top picks. They never see your cost columns or internal notes. You see what they picked.
